We were delighted to read in the Guardian that the famous 16 statues of the 12 apostles and four evangelists that decorated the Notre-Dame Cathedral spire, sculpted in copper by Eugene-Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc during the 1800’s renovation, have been “removed for restoration only a few days before the fire.”
